17th Annual Meeting and Workshop

of The British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons

15th -17th November 2017

Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

Dear Friends

We would like to welcome the Paediatric Laparoscopic community to Newcastle upon Tyne for the 17th annual meeting of BAPES.

Newcastle, once a shipbuilding and manufacturing hub is now a centre of business, arts and sciences. Noted for its unique tilting aperture spanning the Tyne, modern Gateshead Millennium Bridge and it’s current flashier claim to fame for the nightlife, Newcastle boasts a heap of premium restaurants serving foods from all over the world. The world renowned “International Centre for Life” employing 600 people from 35 countries is a major attraction.

The Department of Paediatric Surgery and Urology at the Great North Children Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a progressive and active unit with a number of attributes.

We have an excellent 3-day program.

Day 1 and 2Conference with stimulating scientific program – free papers and debates on topical issues in minimally invasive surgery and eminent keynote speakers. We plan to start mid-day on Day 1 and finish late afternoon on Day 2. The AGM and conference dinner will also be on Day 1.

Day 3Advanced hands-on workshop with state of the art technology, unique 3-D models to practice various surgical techniques with 1:2 trainer–trainee ratio.

In parallel there will be an Associates/Nurse’s workshop / training session addressing a variety of relevant issues in minimally invasive surgery. See link here.

Our conference venue, Copthorne Hotel, is located on the banks of the River Tyne in the vibrant Quayside area of Newcastle.

Workshop venue is the “State of Art” Newcastle Surgical training Centre based at Freeman Hospital Newcastle.

We hope and eagerly await your participation.
